WHAT WE DO

Independent Social and
Environmental Experts

We work as independent engineers on behalf of lenders to assess and track social and environmental risks and opportunities. This applies to the construction of new projects, the expansion of existing ones or to ongoing operations.

Examples of our projects include:

  • Developing a 50 MW wind farm in Central America
  • Developing a 60 MW hydroelectric power plant in Central America
  • Establishing a 120+ MW cogeneration plant at agro-industrial facilities

Compliance and Management
Systems

We work with investors and developers to comply with international standards, e.g., Equator Principles, IFC Performance Standards, IDB Safeguards and others. This extends to developing impact assessments, policies, procedures and management plans, including stakeholder engagements.

Examples of our projects include:

  • Working with a 50 MW solar power facility in Central America to develop a sustainability management system including the biodiversity management action plan, a fiscal security plan, etc.
  • Completing a social impact assessment for a nickel mining operation in the vicinity of indigenous communities with open resettlement processes with communities in Central America.

Examples of our projects include:

  • A 5-year sustainability and stakeholder engagement strategy for a real estate and sugar mill conglomerate with operations extending from Mexico to Brazil.
  • A 10-year sustainability strategy and an engagement strategy for a renewable energy corporation operating in Central America to generate over 800 MWs using solar, wind and hydroelectric technologies.

Sustainability
Reporting

We help companies share their stories as they comply with international best practices while documenting and transmitting the company’s intent, commitment and culture by developing sustainability reports.  We’ve also worked with companies to document case studies for broader publications on regional or thematic best practices.

Examples of our projects include:

  • Advising a renewable energy group on a “look and feel” approach and enhancing the content and tone of reports.
  • Working with a cement company to develop reports using case studies, photos, quotes and graphs on GRI complaints
  • Working with an embassy to develop ten case studies on good practices by Canadian companies operating throughout Central America, Belize and the Caribbean.

Ethics and
Governance

Our firm specializes in developing programs, management systems and tools to ensure that the corporate culture is built upon core values. We work with the company so that their code, policies and tools extend their values and practices to partners and supply chains.

Examples include:

  • Working with a corporate group of more than 30,000 personnel among six divisions encompassing the food industry, power generation, real estate and financial sectors. Use a participatory process to create a code of ethics and conduct together with a train the trainer program to transmit values, expected conduct and criteria on how to make decisions based on values.
  • Developing a code of ethics and conduct plus a training program for a consumer goods retail company with over 50 stores and 5,000 staff.
